General terms and conditions (GTC)
As of: October 2026
1. Provider and scope
These terms and conditions apply to the provision and use of GEYRA Cyber Defense by GEYRA Cyber Defense, owner Torsten Schenk, Uhlandstraße 12, 15370 Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf, Germany, email: info@geyra.de (hereinafter “GEYRA”), towards its customers – for free use of GEYRA and with the paid Guardian subscription. The customer buys the Guardian subscription from Link, a service of the Stripe group, as the seller. Purchase, payment, management of the subscription, withdrawal and refund are governed by Link's terms (clause 6); these terms and conditions govern GEYRA's services and the use of GEYRA.
2. Service
GEYRA detects the devices in the customer's home network, identifies changes compared to the usual state, assesses security-relevant events and alerts the customer. GEYRA offers the protection levels OBSERVE, PROTECT and GUARDIAN as well as alerting on a paired smartphone (alarm phone). With supported routers, the customer can additionally switch on traffic monitoring: GEYRA then warns of unusual data volumes of individual devices and of contact with known malicious destinations on the internet. Traffic monitoring is optional; it only starts when the customer switches it on in GEYRA and consents to the analysis. In the GUARDIAN protection level the customer can also switch on the automatic defence with the Guardian subscription (clause 2a). The contract includes the Windows software, the Android app, the services of the GEYRA server and updates during the contract term.
Free use and Guardian subscription: GEYRA can be used free of charge. In free use GEYRA works while the customer's PC with GEYRA is running: GEYRA detects the devices in the home network, reports new devices, alerts on the alarm phone (also on the go, while the PC is running), allows devices to be blocked on the PC and – after an explanation and confirmation by the customer – quarantine for new devices. Only the Guardian subscription is subject to a charge. With Guardian the GEYRA server takes over protection even when the PC is off, the customer can block and allow devices from the alarm phone, also on the go, and can switch on the automatic defence. Guardian requires Way 2 (clause 2a): a one-time confirmation on the FRITZ!Box and a separate password for the FRITZ!Box user with administrator rights. The customer is informed of this before payment. If the customer does not set up Way 2, the Guardian functions cannot be provided when the PC is off. There is no trial period.
2a. Automatic defence and interventions in the router
The automatic defence independently disconnects suspicious devices in the customer's home network from the internet via the router, in particular on contact with known malicious destinations and – for devices unknown to the household – in the event of unusual data volumes. It is optional and only starts when the customer expressly switches it on in the GEYRA app and consents to the explanation in the assistant. Accepting these terms and conditions during installation or at purchase does not replace this consent.
Way 1 – with the PC only: The defence runs via GEYRA on the customer's PC. Nothing additional is changed on the FRITZ!Box for this.
Way 2 – even when the PC is off (currently for the FRITZ!Box): With their express consent in the GEYRA app, the customer instructs and authorises GEYRA to switch on access from the internet in their FRITZ!Box for the user with administrator rights, to set a new password for this user at the customer's request, to store the password encrypted on the GEYRA server and to use it to log in to the FRITZ!Box from the GEYRA server, to start the capture for traffic monitoring and to block and release devices. The customer carries out the necessary two-factor confirmation on the FRITZ!Box themselves. Without consent in the app and without this confirmation, GEYRA makes none of these changes.
The customer is aware that, with access from the internet switched on, anyone who knows the user name and password of this user can also log in to the FRITZ!Box from the internet. The customer uses a secure password, does not pass it on and keeps the two-factor confirmation of their FRITZ!Box switched on. The customer can switch off access from the internet in their FRITZ!Box themselves at any time; the automatic defence when the PC is off then ends.
An automatic block can mean that a device temporarily has no connection to the internet, even if a suspicion later turns out to be unfounded. The customer receives an alarm for every block and can release the device at any time on the alarm phone or in the GEYRA app. The customer does not switch on the automatic defence if devices in their home network must be connected to the internet without interruption (for example home emergency call, care or medical devices). Clause 14 applies to liability. Details on data processing are contained in the privacy policy (sections 10d and 10e).
3. No absolute security, no alarm or emergency service
No security system can detect or prevent every attack, every piece of malware or every misconfiguration. GEYRA therefore does not owe absolute security.
GEYRA is software that informs the customer about events in their own home network. GEYRA is not a monitored alarm, security or emergency service and does not notify the police, fire brigade, emergency medical services or any other body. Alarms require a working internet connection, a reachable GEYRA server and a switched-on, connected alarm phone; they may arrive late or not at all. GEYRA does not replace the customer's own security measures such as secure passwords, up-to-date updates of their devices and data backups.
Statutory rights remain unaffected.
4. Requirements
The customer needs a PC with Windows 10 or Windows 11 in their home network and an internet connection. GEYRA regularly checks the entitlement (free use or Guardian) with the GEYRA server. If the software cannot connect to the GEYRA server for 7 days, GEYRA keeps running on the PC; only Guardian is then regarded as unconfirmed, and the Guardian functions on the PC pause until the connection is restored. Blocking devices requires a router supported by GEYRA; the “Router check” page shows which routers these are before download. Alarms on the smartphone require an Android smartphone with an internet connection; the Android app only serves as the alarm phone, GEYRA is set up on a Windows PC. Guardian and the automatic defence even when the PC is off (clause 2a, Way 2) currently require a FRITZ!Box; the customer confirms the setup once on the FRITZ!Box.
5. GEYRA ID, registration and restoring
The GEYRA ID stands for the customer's household. It is not tied to a single PC, smartphone, router or IP address.
At the first start GEYRA registers the customer's household automatically with the GEYRA server; no purchase and no email address are needed for this. On registration the customer receives their GEYRA ID and a recovery key; with the GEYRA ID and recovery key they can transfer their household to a new device. Further devices of the same household are added with a device code shown by a device that is already set up. If the customer books Guardian via geyra.de, they receive a Guardian code with which they unlock Guardian in GEYRA for their household; if they book Guardian in GEYRA, the payment is linked directly to their household. The customer keeps the recovery key and Guardian code safe and does not pass them on to third parties.
Deletion of inactive households: If a household using GEYRA for free (without Guardian) has had no contact with the GEYRA server for 12 months – no device of the household has reported in this time – GEYRA deletes the household with all data stored for it. The customer can register GEYRA again at any time afterwards.
6. Conclusion of contract, purchase of the Guardian subscription
For free use the contract is concluded when the customer accepts these GTC with the tick during installation and GEYRA registers their household.
For the Guardian subscription, the customer selects a plan on geyra.de or in GEYRA and is forwarded to the payment window. The seller of the Guardian subscription is Link, a service of the Stripe group (“Sold through Link”). Link concludes the purchase with the customer in its own name, receives the payment and issues the receipt and invoice. Purchase, payment, management of the subscription (for example changing the payment method or cancelling), withdrawal and refund are governed by Link's terms (link.com/terms), which are also linked in the payment window. These terms and conditions govern which services GEYRA provides with Guardian and how GEYRA is used.
In the payment window the customer can check and correct their data before submitting. By clicking the order button they order the Guardian subscription from Link; the purchase is concluded in accordance with Link's terms. The customer receives a confirmation from Link by email and from GEYRA an email “Your GEYRA Guardian” with the confirmation or their Guardian code. The language of these terms and conditions is German.
7. Prices
Use of GEYRA is free of charge. For the Guardian subscription:
Monthly plan: €4.99 per month.
Yearly plan: €39.99 for 12 months.
All prices include VAT. The payment window may show the price in the customer's local currency; the amount shown there is decisive.
8. Payment
The customer pays for the Guardian subscription to Link as the seller (Stripe group). The available payment methods are shown in the payment window. With the monthly plan the amount is charged in advance every month, with the yearly plan in advance for 12 months at a time. The charge appears on the bank statement as “LINK.COM* GEYRA”.
9. Term, renewal and cancellation of the Guardian subscription
Monthly plan: the contract runs for one month at a time and renews automatically for another month unless it is cancelled. The customer can cancel at any time to the end of the current month.
Yearly plan: The contract has a term of 12 months. It is automatically extended for an indefinite period unless it is cancelled with one month's notice to the end of the term. After the extension, the contract can be cancelled at any time with one month's notice. In the extended contract, €39.99 is charged in advance for 12 months at a time; amounts already paid for the period after the end of the contract are refunded pro rata; the refund is processed via Link (Stripe).
Cancellation is possible in the customer account at Link (link.com). As a service, GEYRA also accepts cancellations online via the button “Cancel contracts here” on the Cancellation page or by email to info@geyra.de and implements them at Link (Stripe). The right to extraordinary termination for good cause remains unaffected.
The customer can end free use at any time by uninstalling GEYRA; they can request the deletion of their data at any time (privacy policy, section 17).
10. End of the Guardian subscription and payment default
A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; until then Guardian remains fully usable.
If a payment fails, Guardian continues during a grace period of 14 days, and GEYRA points out the failed payment. If the payment is not made up within this time, Guardian ends.
When Guardian ends, the household falls back to free use: the Guardian functions (clause 2) pause, GEYRA continues to monitor the home network while the customer's PC is running. Household data is not deleted; only the access to the FRITZ!Box stored on the GEYRA server (Way 2) is deleted by GEYRA 14 days after the end of Guardian. If the customer books Guardian again, they set up Way 2 once more.
11. Updates
During the contract term GEYRA provides updates, in particular security updates, as provided for by law for digital products.
12. Customer obligations
The customer only uses GEYRA in their own home network or with the permission of the network owner. They inform the people who regularly use their home network (for example family members and housemates) that GEYRA is in use and whether traffic monitoring and the automatic defence are switched on; they may use GEYRA's privacy policy for this. They protect their access data, in particular the password of their router, against access by third parties. GEYRA must not be used to interfere with other people's networks or devices.
13. Availability
The services of the GEYRA server may be briefly restricted due to maintenance, internet disruptions or technical failures. Availability of 100 percent is not guaranteed. Statutory claims remain unaffected.
14. Warranty rights and liability
The statutory warranty rights for digital products apply.
GEYRA is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health, for fraudulently concealed defects, within the scope of an expressly assumed guarantee and under the Product Liability Act.
In the case of slight negligence, GEYRA is only liable if an essential contractual obligation is breached whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance the customer may regularly rely (cardinal obligation). In this case liability is limited to the damage typical for the contract and foreseeable at the time the contract was concluded. Otherwise liability for slight negligence is excluded.
For loss of data GEYRA is only liable to the extent that the damage would also have occurred if the customer had made regular, appropriate data backups. The limitations of liability also apply in favour of GEYRA's vicarious agents. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
15. Withdrawal and data protection
Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal when buying the Guardian subscription. It exists towards Link as the seller and is governed by the law and Link's terms. As a service, GEYRA also accepts withdrawals, ends Guardian and forwards the withdrawal to Link (Stripe) for processing. Details are on the Withdrawal page. Information on the processing of personal data can be found in the privacy policy.
16. Additional terms for customers outside the EU, the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom
For customers resident outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the following applies in addition, to the extent permitted by the law applicable at the customer's place of residence:
- GEYRA is provided “as is” and “as available”. All express and implied representations and warranties, in particular of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, are disclaimed.
- GEYRA is not liable for lost profits, loss of data, consequential, incidental, punitive or indirect damages, nor for damage caused by burglaries, attacks or other acts of third parties.
- GEYRA's total liability is limited to the amount the customer paid for GEYRA in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
- Disputes are conducted on an individual basis only; class, collective and representative actions are excluded. The place of jurisdiction is GEYRA's registered office in Germany.
- Claims must be asserted within one year after they arise.
Rights that cannot be excluded under the law of the customer's place of residence (for example consumer guarantees under Australian law) remain unaffected. Where they may be limited, liability is limited to supplying the service again or refunding the fee.
17. Final provisions
German law applies. For consumers this only applies insofar as they are not deprived of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country in which they are resident. We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
Should any provision of these GTC be invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
