Quick help
for common questions.
Click a question to see the solution.

the network itself carries GEYRA.
Installation
Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”.
This is normal for new programs. Click More info and then Run anyway. With pictures: Windows warning.
At start it says “GEYRA is checking your home network …”.
That is normal. GEYRA is loading the status of your router and of the GEYRA server. You see the result after 30 seconds at the latest.
“GEYRA cannot start because another program is using the same connection.”
Restart your PC. If that does not help, write to us at info@geyra.de.
Do I need the installation file for a new version?
No. Once GEYRA is installed, new versions arrive automatically. To check right away: Check for updates. You only need the installation file for a new PC.
I can't find GEYRA after the installation.
Open the Start menu: press the Windows key, type “GEYRA” and press Enter.
The first scan only finds a few devices.
GEYRA only sees devices that are switched on. Switch on TVs, phones and other devices and in the expert view under Protection & system click Start network scan. Also check that your PC is connected to your home network and not to a guest Wi-Fi.
Router and blocking
A blocked device is still online.
Blocking only works in your home network (Wi-Fi and cable). Phones and tablets with a SIM card then go online via the mobile network. Switch off mobile data there – on children's phones, for example, via the parental control settings or with the mobile provider.
I don't have a “block internet” button.
Not every router allows blocking devices. GEYRA still warns you about every unknown device. Then block it yourself, most safely with a new Wi-Fi password. If your router is being added, blocking will come with an update.
I don't have a Windows PC – does GEYRA work with just the phone?
No. The GEYRA app for Android is only the alarm phone. GEYRA is set up on a Windows PC; then you pair your smartphone as the alarm phone.
On the phone the “Block” and “Allow” buttons are locked.
Blocking and allowing from the phone is part of Guardian. Without Guardian you block and allow devices on the PC – for free. More under Free or Guardian.
GEYRA can't find my router.
Your PC must be connected to your router's home network – not to a guest Wi-Fi or a repeater guest access. Then click Search for router again. If it still doesn't work, GEYRA offers you a diagnostic report. With Send report we receive the error data (without passwords).
The password is not accepted.
This means the password you use to log in to your router's admin page. For a FRITZ!Box it is the password you use to log in to the FRITZ!Box – not the Wi-Fi password. If you never changed it, it is on the sticker under the FRITZ!Box. If you can't remember it, open fritz.box in the browser and click “Forgot password?” on the login page.
Guardian and quarantine
After switching on “report immediately” I get many alarms.
You get one alarm for each of your own devices that you haven't confirmed yet. That is normal and stops afterwards. Confirm your devices: Confirm devices.
My own device is “IN QUARANTINE”.
The quarantine rule took it for a new device. Allow it – on the phone under GERÄTE IM HEIMNETZ (devices in home network) or on the PC under Devices according to your router with ALLOW. After that it never goes into quarantine again.
If this happens to phones more often, they use a changing private Wi-Fi address. Set your phone to “Use device MAC” or “Private address off” for your Wi-Fi.
A guest on the guest Wi-Fi was not blocked.
That's right: devices on the FRITZ!Box guest Wi-Fi never go into quarantine. You only get a notice. The guest Wi-Fi is separated from your home network.
A new device was not put into quarantine.
Check: is the “Quarantine” rule switched on? Is the router connected and can it block devices? Was the device already there when the rule was switched on? Without Guardian quarantine only works while your PC is running. After 3 disconnections within an hour GEYRA only sends alarms. You always get an alarm.
Round-the-clock protection
What is Round-the-clock protection?
An extra to Guardian: GEYRA blocks dangerous connections even while your PC is off. Switch it on in GEYRA with Switch on Round-the-clock protection and press a button on your FRITZ!Box once. More under Round-the-clock protection.
Round-the-clock protection cannot be switched on.
Check:
1. Is Guardian active?
2. Is your router connected (router eye ✓)?
3. Does your FRITZ!Box have its own password? It does not work with the password from the sticker. Change it: open fritz.box → System → FRITZ!Box Users → change the password. Then use Set up router in GEYRA with the new password.
I did not press the button on the FRITZ!Box in time.
No problem. Click Switch on Round-the-clock protection again. You have 3 minutes. The FRITZ!Box shows you which button.
Does GEYRA give me a password for my FRITZ!Box?
No. GEYRA never sets a password for your FRITZ!Box. The key to your FRITZ!Box stays with you.
Alarm phone
The app says “Code ungültig oder abgelaufen” (code invalid or expired).
A code is valid for 10 minutes and only once. On the PC click SHOW PAIRING CODE again and enter the new code. Watch out for mix-ups such as 0 and O.
The app says “Dieses Handy gehört bereits zu einem anderen GEYRA-Haushalt” (this phone already belongs to another GEYRA household).
The phone is still connected to another GEYRA. Remove it there on the PC with REMOVE and then pair it again. If you no longer have access to the other GEYRA, write to us.
The PC shows “! … · not reachable”.
The phone has not reported to the GEYRA server in the last few minutes. Check:
1. Does the phone have internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data)?
2. Is flight mode off?
3. May GEYRA run in the background? (Android settings → Apps → GEYRA → Battery → Unrestricted)
4. Was the app “stopped” or a power saving mode switched on? Open the app once.
The display on the PC updates every 15 seconds.
The test alarm does not arrive.
Check whether GEYRA may show notifications: Android settings → Apps → GEYRA → Notifications → switch on. Then check the points under “not reachable”.
The alarm does not ring.
The sound follows your phone: silent = quiet, vibrate = vibrates, normal = rings once. With “Do not disturb” the phone stays quiet. You then find the alarm in your notifications.
The alarm appears large on the whole screen.
That is intended: if your phone is locked, GEYRA shows the alarm full screen so that you do not miss it.
GEYRA says “Protect is only partly active”.
For PROTECT, GEYRA needs an alarm phone that has reported in the last 90 seconds. Pair an alarm phone or check the points under “not reachable”.
I have a new phone.
Remove the old phone on the PC under MANAGE PHONES with REMOVE and pair the new one. Guide: Set up alarm phone.
GEYRA ID, Guardian and contract
What does GEYRA cost?
GEYRA is free. You only pay for Guardian: €4.99 a month or €39.99 for 12 months. Rule of thumb: PC on and at home = free. The GEYRA server works for you even when the PC is off, and you can step in on the go = Guardian. More under Prices.
How do I cancel Guardian?
On the Cancellation page click Cancel contracts here, fill in the form and confirm with Cancel now. You can also end your subscription yourself in your account at link.com or write to info@geyra.de.
Monthly: at any time to the end of the month. Yearly: with one month's notice to the end of the 12 months; without cancellation the contract continues and can then be cancelled at any time with one month's notice.
The cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. After that you keep using GEYRA for free.
Where do I find my Guardian code?
You only get a Guardian code if you booked Guardian on the website – on the thank-you page and in the email “Your GEYRA Guardian”. It looks like this: GEYRA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Enter it in GEYRA under Unlock Guardian → I have already paid. If you booked in GEYRA, you don't need a code. Not found? Write to us from the email address of your purchase at info@geyra.de.
I want to use GEYRA on another PC.
Open GEYRA on the PC that is already set up, click Protection & system on the left and then ADD ANOTHER DEVICE. On the new PC choose GEYRA already runs at my home and enter the device code shown.
New PC – the old device no longer exists.
Download GEYRA for free under Download. Then at the first start choose Restore and enter your GEYRA ID and the recovery key GEYRA showed you at the first registration. GEYRA then shows you a new key – the old one is then no longer valid. A booked Guardian is kept. If you no longer have the key, write to us at info@geyra.de.
GEYRA shows “Check payment”.
The last payment for your Guardian subscription failed. Guardian continues for 14 days. Please check your payment method – you'll find the link in the email from Link (Stripe) or at link.com. As soon as the payment works, the notice disappears by itself. If it does not work, you then keep using GEYRA for free.
My bank statement shows “LINK.COM* GEYRA”.
This is your GEYRA payment. The seller of the Guardian subscription is Link, a service of the Stripe group. Link also sends you the receipt and invoice by email.
